Good Morning Somerset.
Head over to Pierce Beach in town tonight for the Somerset Recreation Department’s Summer Concert Series featuring Back in the Day band. The free event starts at 6 PM and there will be food trucks on site as well. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome.
Spirit of Somerset on the agenda again
An outstanding balance owed to the town by the non-profit Spirit of Somerset is back on the agenda tonight in a joint meeting between the Board of Selectman and the Advisory and Finance Committee. The tab is for services the non-profit used from the town during last year’s annual celebrations, which Spirit of Somerset spokesperson David Berube says he was unaware they had to pay. The meeting will take place tonight at the Somerset Public Library at 6 PM.
Gov. Healey wants Progress on South Coast Wind permits
At a town Conservation Commission meeting earlier this week, South Coast Wind shared that they are under a lot of pressure from the Healey administration to get their permits locked in for their plans to build infrastructure on a ten-acre portion of the land at the site former Brayton Point power plant. Former Somerset Selectwoman and environmental activist Kathy Souza had this to say about the recent meeting:
“It is very disappointing to hear South Coast Wind using the same statements that Prysmian used, saying the state is pushing them to hurry up and get permits, Governor Healey specifically, completely ignoring the concerns of town boards, commissions and residents.”

The buildings will include 66 1-bedroom units, 42 2-bedroom units and 12 3-bedroom units and will be a part of the state 40B program.
