Somerset, Massachusetts State Police, arrest wanted sex offender
Police captured a wanted sex offender Wednesday in Somerset.
According to Somerset Police, yesterday afternoon, the Somerset Police Department assisted the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and the United States Marshalls Office with the capture and arrest of Lemaune Hunter, age 41, on a warrant issued by the State of Illinois for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender.
Hunter was arrested without incident outside of a Somerset residence where he had been residing with a family member.
Hunter has a significant violent criminal history, according to Somerset Police.
The Illinois Sex Offender Registry states that Hunter was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual assault with a firearm with a 13-year-old victim 20 years ago.
