A local man that died after a collision in Somerset Tuesday afternoon is being remembered.

A man in his 50s was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River where he was pronounced deceased.

According to family, the deceased is 54-year-old John Wilding. His daughter Jessica issued a touching tribute on social media stating that he was on the way to her wedding ceremony at the time of the crash.

“He was the friggin best and anyone who knew him loved him. He was the loudest and brightest shining soul in every room, and he will be missed dearly. There are no other words I could say at the moment.

Dad,

You are my hero and so many other people’s hero as well. You risked your life to save others and that’s outta this world. I can’t wait to use your strength, courage, kindness, and humor to make my life the best it can be for me and my, now, husband. I was going to say I wish you could have been there for my special day, but I know you were. You showed yourself in so many signs before I even knew it was you. 🩵 I will never stop sharing memories of you because there are so many and they’re all crazy. Your children (and grandchild) love you so much and are so happy you are at peace. Protect us, guide us, and send us some laughs from the great beyond.”

Wilding was also a veteran of the Navy.

Services will be August 7th from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Hathaway Funeral Home in Somerset.

An update on details concerning the crash has not yet been released.

Maybe it was not at a church and when he didn’t show up she figured he would be late so they went on with the wedding.I would have just sent my Condolences.Noone knows whyand they probably got the news my h later cause I’m sure the police or hospital didn’t know where he was headed.I don’t know anybody in this family but I’m sure she would have stopped it if she knew what happened. My Deepest Condolences to the entire family 🙏🙏
