Somerset confirms case of COVID-19
SOMERSET — Town Administrator Richard M. Brown, in conjunction with Police Chief George McNeil and Fire Chief Jamison Barros, confirmed today that Somerset Public Health Nurse Emily Lachance has been notified by Massachusetts Department of Public Health officials of one confirmed case of COVID-19 in Somerset.
The patient has been isolated and is being supported and monitored according to public health guidelines. The patient’s family is currently in self-quarantine.
Under State and Federal privacy laws no further information is available about the individual.
“We are monitoring this case very closely, in accordance with all Department of Public Health guidelines,” Town Administrator Brown said. “We will continue to keep the residents of Somerset updated as more information relating to the COVID-19 public health crisis is available.”
Town Administrator Brown stressed that this remains a very fluid and rapidly evolving situation.
All residents are urged to continue to practice social distancing and appropriate personal hygiene.
