Somerset bicyclist dies in Saturday morning accident
A Somerset man has been killed in a Saturday morning accident.
According to Swansea Sergeant Mark Foley, on Saturday June 30 at 9:22 a.m., Swansea Police Officers responded to the 500 block of Bark Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a Jeep Wrangler and a bicyclist.
The operator of the bicycle, Jose Pacheco, 76, of Somerset, was transported to Rhode Island hospital after the accident with life threatening injuries. Pacheco later died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. The Jeep was operated by a 46 year old female out of Somerset.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Detective Jonathan Boyd and Patrolman Kyle Harmon of the Swansea Police department. They are being assisted by the Massachusetts State Police CPAC unit assigned to the District Attorney’s office, as well as the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
