Somerset Berkley to hold vigil to raise funds for bench, scholarship, in honor of Zachary Deane; blood drive also being held
Somerset Berkley Regional High School is holding a candlelight ceremony in honor of classmate Zachary Deane.
Deane was diagnosed earlier this year with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. The cancer started with a mass on his prostate and had spread to his bones, lungs, and spine, leading to the stage four diagnosis.
Zachary passed away on August 10th.
The candlelight ceremony is scheduled to take place on Wednesday August 28th at 7:30 p.m. on the front Soccer Fields.
Each candle will cost 5 dollars, and all proceeds will go towards both a bench in Deane’s honor and a scholarship in his name.
In order to get a gauge on how many people will be attending, you are asked to fill out the form below.
If you’re able to attend, donations will be collected by cash or via the QR code at the ceremony.
Zachary’s family is also holding a blood drive on Thursday, August 29th in memory of their son for all the blood that they used to help him through his battle with cancer.
It is being held at Pediatrics Associates, 851 Middle Street, Fall River.
