Skating rink in Bristol County closing its doors for good in the next few days

After more than a decade under current ownership and decades as a staple in the community, a local entertainment spot will close its doors for good.

According to an announcement by owner Forrest Welling on social media, Forrest’s Family Fun Center roller skating rink at 1R Lawton Street in Taunton, formerly known as Silver City Skating Rink, will shut down following an adult night on Tuesday.

Welling stated a new buyer has purchased the property and received approval to convert the space into an indoor soccer facility.

Welling is heading toward a much-deserved retirement in Florida.

The rink has faced challenges in recent years, including noise complaints from neighbors in late 2025 and ongoing struggles to maintain attendance.

Some of the property inside the establishment is for sale while some items have already been sold or accounted for.
