Several sent to the hospital, driver cited, after multi-vehicle crash in Westport
Multiple people were injured, and a driver was cited after a multi-vechile crash in Westport.
According to Westport Police Sgt. Bryan McCarthy, on Wednesday at approximately 11:00 a.m., there was a three-car rash at the intersection of Route 88 and Briggs Road.
A 2016 Volvo was traveling west on Briggs Road and failed to stop at the light. The Volvo crossed onto Route 88 and was struck by a 2019 Toyota traveling south on Route 88. After the impact, the Toyota proceeded to travel west on Briggs Road and made slight contact with a 2013 Toyota that was stopped at the light waiting for the light to turn green to enter traffic.
The operator of the Volvo was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital for further medical evaluations.
The operator and passengers of the 2019 Toyota were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for further medical evaluations.
The operator of the 2013 Toyota refused medical attention with the Westport Fire Department.
The operator of the Volvo was issued a citation for failing to stop at a red light.
