Several people injured in head on crash on Route 114 involving four vehicles

PORTSMOUTH, RI – Police are investigating after a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday evening led to multiple injuries.

According to Major Michael Morse, at approximately 6:11 p.m., Portsmouth officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash at West Main Road and King Charles Drive.

The incident began when a vehicle sideswiped another vehicle which caused a chain-reaction crash involving two additional vehicles, one of which was struck head-on.

Several occupants sustained injuries and were transported to Newport Hospital.

One vehicle left the scene northbound.

All statements and evidence are being reviewed as part of an ongoing investigation.
