Several members of Fall River Police Department make ill 4-year-olds birthday a special one
Members of the Fall River Police Department banded together to make a child’s birthday one that he will remember.
According to the Fall River Police Department, when Officer John Aguiar from the Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit heard that a little boy named Matthew was turning 4 on July 13th and that his birthday party at the Children’s Museum had a police theme, he knew that the department had to do something special.
The department noted that Matthew has already shown more strength than most of us could imagine, having undergone 12 surgeries. Doctors once said he wouldn’t make it to 4 but Matthew had other plans.
When his mom asked if an officer could swing by, Officer Aguiar reached out to the Special Services Division and NEET Team, and the team jumped into action.
Officer Lorymar Devarie went above and beyond, using her own funds to buy Matthew some awesome gifts. Sgt. Parousis and Lt. Burt contributed official ESU and Honor Guard patches to mark the occasion.
On party day, Sgt. Parousis, Officer Alex Araujo, Officer Jimmie Page, Environmental Police Officer Bill Medeiros, and Officer Devarie all stopped by to surprise Matthew, drop off the gifts, and wish him a Happy Birthday.
Fun was had by all, and a day was created that Matthew’s family won’t soon forget.
