Services announced for New Bedford DJ, lover of all thing’s music

NEW BEDFORD — A South Coast DJ and lover of music has passed away.

According to an obituary, 49-year-old Nuno Laranjeira of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday following a brief and courageous battle with stage 4 lymphoma.

Nuno immigrated to New Bedford from Portugal with his family in 1979.

Laranjeira was employed for a time as a personal care attendant, but most know him through his music, creating and sharing his own work across social media and the internet under the moniker “DJ Nucleus.” He was a DJ, producer, remixer, promoter, engineer, & graphics designer along with being a collaborator.

Those who connected with Nuno and his music through its various forms were expressing condolences on social media.

Funeral arrangements committed to the care of AUBERTINE-LOPES FUNERAL HOME, 129 Allen St., New Bedford.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held in the funeral home prior to the Mass from 8:30-10:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nuno’s memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at dana-farber.org.
