In an obituary, a Fall River man found deceased this week is being remembered.

FALL RIVER – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Humberto S. Macedo, age 74, who passed away on January 20, 2026.  He was the beloved husband of Alzira Maria (Silva) Macedo and born in Fenais da Luz, Sao Miguel, Azores to the late Adelino and Maria dos Anjos (Sousa) Macedo.

Humberto was a man of many passions.  An avid fisherman, whether casting a line or spending the day boating, the open waters are where he found peace and joy.
Along with his career as a foreman for American Pollution Control Co, Humberto was a skilled auto mechanic by trade and by heart, Humberto took pride in working with his hands and had a talent for understanding how things worked.  Family and friends relied on his knowledge.

In his quieter moments, Humberto enjoyed his hobbies of model slot cars and trains, delighting in the precision, craftmanship, and nostalgia they brought.  These interests reflected his attention to detail and his love for classic engineering.  He also had a love for classic muscle cars and motorcycles.

Along with his wife, he is survived by his children Laurea Mello (husband Daniel), Maryann LaFleur (husband Clinton), Roger Macedo (wife Khrystal); grandchildren Danielle Mello, Justin LaFleur, Keira LaFleur, Mason LaFleur, Owen Macedo, & Isabella Macedo; siblings Edwin Macedo (wife Sherri), Edward Macedo, Sandra Thomas (husband Joe), Adelino Macedo, Judy Macedo and the late Michael Macedo; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A wake for Humberto will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 4-8 P.M. in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, MA 02720.
