Services announced for Bristol County man killed in plane crash
Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois announced on Wednesday the identity of the deceased in a fiery weekend plane crash.
On Sunday, at just before 3:45 p.m., State Police Detectives Unit assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office was notified of a plane crash involving one victim located at 176 Race Point Road, Provincetown.
Upon the arrival of Provincetown Police and Fire personnel, the plane was fully engulfed with what appeared to be one victim, still inside of the plane. The pilot, the only passenger on board, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The pilot has been identified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as 60-year-old Christopher Burroughs of Attleboro.
According to an obituary, Burroughs “held his private pilot’s license for 38 years and was a member and treasurer of the Brockton Flying Club. He treasured his aviation adventures and often took to the skies with his family, friends, and dogs, going on special journeys and making lifelong memories in his plane. He was also an enthusiastic skydiver in his younger days. As a musician, he was a member of Bugles Across America as an impressive trumpet player and enjoyed playing the drums and the bass. He was an avid poker player who always looked forward to his monthly card games, and treasured the times spent outdoors and doing yard work. However, times spent creating memories with his family were his happiest times, especially when they all traveled together.”
District Attorney Galibois stated that this is a devastating accident and that his thoughts and condolences are with the victims’ loved ones and family members as they grieve this tragic loss.
