Services announced for 14-year-old Diman freshman who passed away this week
Services have been announced for a Diman student from Fall River who died this week.
14-year-old Giovannie Gonzague Abreu “Gio” passed away on Monday at Rhode Island Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
According to an obituary, “Giovannie was a radiant light in his family’s lives. His undeniable spirit and zest for life were a testament to their love and guidance. Despite his tender age, Giovannie had a profound impact on those around him. His vitality, resilience, and joy in the simple pleasures of life were a continual source of inspiration.”
A GoFundMe fundraiser stated that: “Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of our precious son, Giovannie. At just 14 years old, he had so much life ahead of him, and his absence has left a void that can never be filled.”
“Giovannie had a beautiful spirit and a smile that could light up a room. He loved music, photography, gaming, and had aspirations of becoming a nurse. He touched so many lives in ways we are only beginning to fully understand.”
Friends and Family are cordially invited to attend a Public Visitation for Giovannie which will be held at the Southcoast Funeral Home, inside of the Ferreira Chapel, 1555 Pleasant Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02723 on Monday, January 12, 2026, 09:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A Committal Service with prayers will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, 765 Prospect Street, Fall River, Massachusetts, 02720 at 1:00 PM.
