Services announced as loved ones remember 2 men killed in Brockton collision

BROCKTON – Two men killed late Wednesday night in Brockton as a result of a single-car collision are being remembered as their services are announced.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Brockton Police received a 911 call reporting a crash on North Cary Street.

Upon arrival, officers and emergency services personnel found a Honda Civic that had crashed into a tree about five yards off the roadway.

The driver – identified as 20-year- old Fernando (Nando) Da Silveira Jr. of Brockton — was found deceased at the scene of the crash. The front seat passenger, identified as 37-year-old Christopher Ribeiro of Brockton, was transported to a local area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. A rear seat passenger was also transported to a local hospital and received medical treatment. 

Ribeiro was being remembered for his passion in car detailing. He enjoyed playing basketball, and spending time with his children.

Visitation will take place in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton Thursday February 13th from 5-9 pm. Services in the Funeral Home will be held Friday February 14th at 9 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein, 71 E Main Street Brockton at 10 am. Burial to follow in Melrose Cemetery, 88 N Pearl Street Brockton.

Da Silveira Jr. was known for his beautiful soul and also had a passion for vehicles. He is being remembered for his many talents and putting a smile on many people’s faces.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has raised $5,000 as of this writing.

Da Silveira Jr’s public viewing will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19th at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 433 West Street in Brockton. The funeral mass will follow the viewing. The procession will be held from 1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Michael Cemetry at 500 Canterbury Street in Boston.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing and being conducted by Massachusetts State Police and the Brockton Police Department.
