Second New Bedford resident charged in Taunton shooting that killed Brockton man, injured 7 others

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced that a second arrest has been made related to the shooting that took place at a party at 261 Weir Street in Taunton on Sunday, which resulted in the shooting death of one man and injuries to seven other victims. 

25-year-old Malkiah Cunningham of New Bedford has been arrested and charged with one count of Murder and seven counts of Armed Assault with intent to Murder for her role in the shooting homicide. 

The defendant’s arraignment is expected to take place tomorrow morning at approximately 9:00 a.m. at the Taunton District Court. 

25-year-old Sienna Barboza of New Bedford was arraigned Thursday after being arrested and charged with one count of Murder and seven counts of Armed Assault with intent to Murder for her role in the shooting homicide. 

Barboza pled not guilty and is being held with a probable cause hearing scheduled for October 7th.

According to WCVB, Barboza was allegedly not at the party but was inside a vehicle when she fired the shots that struck victims who were outside beneath a tent.

The 8 identified victims injured in the shooting, all in their early twenties, were transported to various local hospitals for treatment. One of the victims, identified as 22-year-old, Zirovick Depina of Brockton, was later pronounced deceased. Of the remaining victims, one was last known to be in serious but stable condition and the remaining victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into this matter remains active and ongoing by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with Taunton Police.  No further information is available at this time.
