Second dog located in neglect investigation, reward offered
A Second Dog Located in Coventry Neglect Investigation
This morning Coventry Police and Coventry Animal Control responded to 20 Woodland Dr. where they located an emaciated, female pit bull inside a vehicle.
The owner of the vehicle, a South Carolina resident, reported that he had located this dog running loose on Nooseneck Hill Road during the early morning hours of 10/06/18. Although this dog was reportedly alone at that time, it is suspected that the two dogs recovered were connected. Coventry Animal Control transported the female dog to a local animal hospital for treatment. Coventry Animal Control is currently providing care for her at their shelter.
Coventry Police Detectives along with Coventry Animal Control will be continuing the investigation to locate the individual(s) involved. The Rhode Island SPCA is offering a $1000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of any suspect(s) in this case. Handsome Dan’s Rescue (handsomedansrescue.org) has also pledged $500 adding to the RISPCA reward for information.
The public is being asked to contact the Coventry Police with any information they have in this matter. Contact CPD at 401-826-1100 or email tips@coventrypd.org
