Salvadoran national arrested by ICE Boston convicted of several violent crimes, illegal reentry
BOSTON — A 44-year-old Salvadoran man, illegally present in the U.S., has been convicted federally after reentering the country following a prior deportation.
Arsenio Valladares pleaded guilty on July 7 in U.S. District Court in Massachusetts to one count of unlawful reentry by a deported alien.
“Arsenio Valladares not only showed complete disregard for U.S. immigration laws, but his presence here endangered community safety,” stated Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston. “With multiple violent crime convictions, he posed a real threat to those around him. ICE Boston remains committed to public safety by targeting and removing criminal noncitizens from New England.”
Valladares was deported from the U.S. on April 23, 2008, but later reentered without authorization.
Before his deportation, he had convictions for assault and battery with a deadly weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery, operating a vehicle under the influence, larceny, and malicious destruction of property.
In November 2024, ICE Boston learned of Valladares’ presence through fingerprints linked to new criminal charges in Massachusetts. ICE officers arrested him on immigration violations on March 18.
At his upcoming sentencing later this month, Valladares could face up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. He will also be subject to deportation after serving any imposed sentence.
The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.
