A Rhode Island woman has been arrested twice in nine days for allegedly driving drunk with several children in the car.

According to the Warwick Police Department, on July 19th at 3:52 p.m., a disturbing the peace call was received at Warwick Police Headquarters. Information provided was that an adult female was possibly intoxicated and attempting to leave the Oakland Beach Seawall area in a silver Honda minivan with a Rhode Island registration. The caller also stated that there were three young children in the minivan and she estimated the ages were from seven years old to newborn.

Traffic Officer Jason Brodeur observed the minivan operating northbound on Oakland Beach Avenue in an erratic manner. Upon stopping the vehicle he made contact with Leah Duran, 41, of Woonsocket. Inside the minivan were three children, ages seven, four and seven months. Leah Duran was subsequently arrested for suspicion of drunk driving and brought to Warwick Police Department where she subsequently refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. Duran was charged with DUI (B.A.C. unknown), Refusal to submit to a chemical test and operating on a suspended license. Leah Duran was held and transported to 3rd District Court on July 20, 2018 for arraignment. The children were turned over to the care and custody of the Department of Children Youth and Family.

Leah Duran was previously arrested by RISP in Woonsocket on July 11th for a DUI under similar circumstances.
