RI motorcycle rider killed in Thursday morning crash
Scituate, R.I. Rhode Island State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash on Route 246 (Old Louisquisset Pike) at the Route 146 South off-ramp in the Town of Lincoln.
The deceased is identified as Christopher Auter, 37, of Lincoln, Rhode Island. He was transported from the scene by emergency medical services and later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.
At approximately 4:00 a.m. this morning, Troopers from the Rhode Island State Police Lincoln Barracks responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on Route 246 (Old Louisquisset Pike) in the area of Route 146 (south) off-ramp. Upon arrival, Troopers observed Auter in the roadway and separated from the motorcycle.
The preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle came into contact with a curbed island in the roadway. A motorcycle helmet was located at the scene, however, it is undetermined at this time if the helmet was being worn at the time of the accident. Speed does not appear to be a factor and the accident remains under investigation.
