Rhode Island woman pleads not guilty after allegedly filing complaint with police that the drugs she purchased wasn’t the cocaine she asked for

Police are issuing a PSA. Don’t walk into a police station with illegal drugs, without expecting to stay in handcuffs.

According to Coventry Police, early Friday morning, 62-year-old Gloria Tiberi walked into the Coventry Police station to make a complaint. Tiberi was unhappy, in part, that the drugs she purchased might be fentanyl, and not cocaine as she originally desired. The officers gladly took possession of the narcotics for a quality control check.

Yes, in fact the drugs did test presumptively positive for fentanyl, a controlled substance.

As such, Tiberi was placed under arrest and secured in a holding cell until court in the morning.

Tiberi appeared before a 3rd District Court judge where she was arraigned on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance 10 Grams or Less. She pled not guilty, was given $1000 surety bail, and then presented to the Superior Court as a bail violator on a previous case (which includes narcotics charges).
