Rhode Island State Police release name of suspect charged in morning wrong-way collision

Lincoln, RI – State Police have released the name of a suspect in an early morning wrong-way crash.
According to Rhode Island State Police, at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Route 295 North in the Town of Lincoln.
The investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes collided with another vehicle in the area of the weigh station on Route 295. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with reported complaints of pain.
The wrong-way driver was identified as Raul Hernandez, of Pawtucket. He was charged with Reckless Driving, Driving Under the Influence of Liquor or Drugs (pending toxicology results), and Operating on a Suspended License.
Hernandez is currently being treated at Rhode Island Hospital and will be arraigned in Third District Court upon his release.
