Rhode Island State Police release details, name of victim, in fatal motorcycle crash

A young Rhode Island man is dead after an early morning motorcycle crash.
According to Rhode Island State Police, on Friday at just after 2:45 a.m., members of the Rhode Island State Police Wickford Barracks responded to a motorcycle crash on Route 4 north, just north of Route 102, in the Town of North Kingstown.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of the motorcycle, identified as Parker Smith, age 24, of Cranston, Rhode Island, was traveling north on Route 4 and lost control. The motorcycle struck the jersey barrier along the Stony Lane overpass and Smith was thrown from the motorcycle.
Smith was transported by North Kingstown Rescue to Rhode Island Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The crash was investigated by members of the State Police Wickford Barracks and the Forensic Services Unit, with the assistance of the North Kingstown and East Greenwich police departments.
