Rhode Island State Police arrests 15 individuals for DUI over holiday weekend
Colonel Ann C. Assumpico, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of Department of Public Safety, announces that 15 individuals were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs over the holiday weekend. The arrests stemmed from several motor vehicle crashes and/or motor vehicle stops. No serious injuries were reported.
“Anyone who chooses to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs poses a tremendous risk to everyone on our roads,” Colonel Assumpico said. “We are fortunate that no deaths or serious injuries resulted from the alleged actions of these individuals. We hope these arrests send a strong message – that the Rhode Island State Police will not tolerate impaired driving on our roadways.”
Those arrested include:
Jason Hedges, age 36, of 20 Top St., Westerly, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, B.A.C. unknown; refusal to submit to a chemical test, second offense; and driving with a suspended license. He was arrested around 12:15 a.m. today (Tuesday) after Troopers recorded him travelling at speeds up to 94 miles an hour on Interstate 95 North, near Route 102, in West Greenwich. He also was cited for speeding 11+ miles per hour in excess of the posted speed limit, laned roadway violations and turn signal required. He was held for an appearance in District Court on charges of violating the terms of bail on unrelated charges, as well as a probation violation.
Craig J. Corey, age 28, of 69 Nimitz Road, East Providence, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, blood-alcohol content (B.A.C.) unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, first offense. He was arrested after his vehicle allegedly struck another car travelling on Interstate 195 East in Providence at approximately 10 p.m. Monday. He also was cited for presence of an alcoholic beverage while operating a motor vehicle; failure to report an accident; and laned roadway violations.
Santos Hernandez Estrada, age 19, of 5 Pleasant St., Newport, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, B.A.C. unknown; refusal to submit to a chemical test, first offense; driving without/expired license, second offense; and duty to stop – accident resulting in damage to an attended vehicle. He was arrested after a hit-and-run crash was reported on Interstate 95 in Providence at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Monday. He also was cited for failure to file an accident report; failure to maintain reasonable and prudent speeds; operating a motor vehicle without evidence of insurance; transportation of alcoholic beverage by a minor; and presence of alcoholic beverage while operating or riding in a motor vehicle.
Donald Moore, age 28, of 48-B South St., Woonsocket, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, B.A.C. unknown (pending the results of blood tests). He was arrested around 12:40 a.m. Monday after a motor vehicle crash on Route 146 near Route 116 in Lincoln in which his vehicle struck a concrete barrier on the highway. He was treated at Miriam Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and was later charged after he was released. He also was cited for operation of a vehicle when registration is cancelled; operating motor vehicle without evidence of insurance; and laned roadway violations. In addition, he was held for arraignment in District Court on a probation violation.
John A. Delbonis Jr., age 21, of 2055 Plainfield Pike, Johnston, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first office, B.A.C of .10-.15 (Phase I: .106/ Phase II: .122). He was arrested around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday after Troopers recorded him allegedly driving 89 miles an hour in a 55 mile per hour zone on Route 37 in Warwick. He also was cited for speeding 11+ miles per hour in excess of the posted speed limit.
Judson Lisiecka, age 46, of 119 Westwood Ave., Cranston, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C greater than .15 (Phase I: .182/ Phase II: .190). he was arrested at approximately 2:15 a.m. Sunday after Troopers saw him allegedly travelling at a high rate of speed and crossing into the breakdown lane on Interstate 95 at Exit 13 in Warwick. He also was cited for laned roadway violations.
Isaurindo Ramos, age 53 of 8 Bangor St., Warwick, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, B.A.C. .15 or greater (Phase I: .151) (Phase II: .154). He was arrested at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Sunday after Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Warwick. He also was charged with driving after the suspension/revocation of his license.
Joaquim Galvao, age 56, of 6 Winterberry Road, Lincoln, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, B.A.C. unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was arrested by Troopers responding to reports of an erratic operator on Interstate 95 South, near Charles Street, in Providence at approximately 12:15 a.m. Sunday. He also was cited for laned roadway violations.
Rhonda Uribe, age 50, of 125 School St., Central Falls, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C greater than .15 (Phase I: .194/ Phase II: .198). She was arrested at approximately 11:40 p.m. Saturday after Troopers received a call for an erratic operator on Interstate 295 in Cranston and saw her allegedly driving in the breakdown lane at approximately 40 miles an hour, crossing the travel lanes as she did so. She also was issued citations for laned roadway violations for use of the breakdown lane for travel.
Michael Nickerson, age 60, of 35 Canfield Ave., Warwick, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, B.A.C. unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, first offense. He was arrested around 8:50 p.m. Saturday after Troopers conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in Warwick saw him speed past without slowing. His recorded speed was 75 miles an hour.
He also was cited for speeding in excess of 11 miles an hour over the posted speed limit and laned roadway violations.
Phillip Camire, age 53, of 50 Bellevue St., East Fairhaven, MA, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, B.A.C. unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was arrested at approximately 6:15 p.m. Saturday by Troopers responding a call for an erratic operator on Boston Neck Road in North Kingstown. He also was issued citations for no seatbelt-operator, laned roadway violations and operating left of center.
Carmen Cuba, age 30, of 143 Sylvian St., Central Falls, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C greater than .15 (Phase I: .173/ Phase II: .166). He was arrested after Troopers received a call about 2:10 a.m. Saturday for a car being operated erratically on Route 10 in Cranston. He also was cited for laned roadway violations and turn signal required.
Michael A. Goddard, age 35, of 176 Norfolk Avenue, Pawtucket, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C greater than .15 (Phase I: .172/ Phase II: .176); driving on a suspended license; and violation of a protection/no-contact order issued by Sixth Division District Court. He was arrested at approximately 1:50 a.m. Saturday after Troopers spotted him allegedly driving a motor vehicle with an obstructed view out the windshield, due to a large number of objects hanging from a rearview mirror. He also was charged with driving with a suspended/revoked/cancelled license and was cited for windshield and window stickers-obstructed view. He was held for arraignment in District Court on the violation.
Victoria Robbins, age 28, of 311 Logee St., Woonsocket, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C greater than .15 (Phase I: .195/ Phase II: .190). She was arrested at approximately 1:25 a.m. on Saturday on Route 146 in Lincoln after she allegedly was driving at a high rate of speed and nearly struck a State Police cruiser stopped on the side of the road while assisting a disabled motorist. She was also issued citations for conditions requiring reduced speed involving an emergency motor vehicle – move over law; turn signal required; and laned roadway violations
Yudis Mendez, age 34, of 10 Judith St., Providence, charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C greater than .15 (Phase I: .215/ Phase II: 235.) He was arrested at approximately 1 a.m. Saturday when Troopers spotted him allegedly swerve into oncoming traffic on Route 44/Putnam Pike in Johnston. He was charged with driving without/expired license and he was cited for laned roadway violations and no seat belt – operator.
