Rhode Island repeat offender facing list of charges after woman found with significant injuries, wearing only a blanket

A Rhode Island man who police say is a repeat offender, is facing more charges after an incident this weekend.

According to police, on Saturday, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Pawtucket Police were called to Power Road for a check the well-being call.

Upon arrival, officers learned from a neighbor that a tenant from that building asked them to call 911.

Responding officers located a 45-year-old female victim across the street wearing only a blanket. The woman had sustained obvious significant injuries and was brought to an area hospital for treatment.

It was learned that her boyfriend and alleged person responsible, was within the apartment. Officers were initially unsuccessful on getting the suspect to exit. Information gathered about the suspect revealed a lengthy criminal history as well as an active warrant for domestic related offenses.

Members of the Pawtucket Police Special Response Team were activated, and Detectives from the Major Crime Unit were called in. Officers from the East Providence Police Department also responded with equipment to assist. An arrest warrant as well as a search warrant for the suspect and apartment were obtained by Detectives.

The suspect was eventually apprehended by SRT members and brought to an area hospital to be evaluated.

In addition to the charges from the warrant, the suspect, identified as 40-year-old James Perkins from Cranston, is expected to be arraigned by a bail commissioner on the charges of Domestic assault third and subsequent violation, Domestic kidnapping, Domestic assault by strangulation, Domestic felony assault, and Domestic disorderly conduct.
