Police departments across the state of Rhode Island are issuing their condolences after the sudden death of one of their own.
Chief Eric Rollinson has announced with profound sadness and a heavy heart the tragic loss of a Scituate Police Department member.
The untimely death of Sgt. Jason Riquier, a 23-year veteran of the Scituate Police Department and a United States Marine Corps veteran was reported on Monday.
Rollinson stated that the department is struggling with the tragic loss of Sgt. Riquier, who was a valued and respected member of the Scituate Police family.
The 47-year-old Riquier had been reported missing and was found deceased.
The death is being investigated but a criminal act is not currently suspected.
Condolences from police departments began to pour into the Scituate Police Department through social media on Tuesday.
