Rhode Island pedestrian suffers serious injuries after fiery two-car motor vehicle crash

A Rhode Island man was seriously injured after a fiery highway collision.
According to State Police, on Tuesday, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a two-car motor vehicle collision occurred on Route 2 in the Town of Norwich, Connecticut.
A gold in color 1993 Toyota Corolla was parked in the right shoulder of Route 2 eastbound with a flat tire. Both occupants of the vehicle were outside attempting to remove the flat tire on the rear left side. A black in color 2005 Nissan Altima operated by 24-year-old Keenan May, was traveling eastbound on Route 2 in the right lane of two with an additional lane merging from the right.
The Nissan Altima exited the roadway to the right and failed to maintain its established lane. It collided with the rear of the Toyota Camry in the right shoulder as two pedestrians attempted to change the flat tire. The Nissan Altima struck one of the pedestrians in the shoulder along with the Toyota Camry. The Toyota Camry caught on fire due to the collision and became fully engulfed in flames.
As a result of the collision, the pedestrian identified as 28-year-old Harold Manrique, sustained serious injuries and was transported to William W. Backus Hospital before being transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center. The second pedestrian near the Toyota was transported to William W Backus Hospital for suspected minor injuries. The operator of the Nissan reported no injuries.
