Two Rhode Island residents are facing some disturbing allegations.

According to police, “on September 2, 2025, Glocester Police were called to the West Glocester Motor Inn for a reported landlord-tenant issue involving an adult female resident. During the course of this investigation, management at the Motor Inn later contacted police after discovering suspected narcotics and drug activity inside the vacant room.

“Evidence at the scene indicated that an 18-month-old child had been living in the room where drug activity was observed and documented. Officers observed children’s clothing, toys, and other personal belongings throughout the area. The Department of Children, Youth, and Families was immediately notified and opened an investigation.

“Subsequent coordination with DCYF investigators led to the location of the child and guardian in Woonsocket. The child was taken into protective custody and evaluated at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where toxicology testing confirmed the presence of cocaine and fentanyl exposure. DCYF’s investigation concluded that the living conditions seriously endangered the physical health and welfare of the child.

“Through a joint investigation with DCYF and the Glocester Police Department, arrest warrants were obtained for Danielle Bennett, age 41, and Jose Lopez, age 41, on one count of Child Endangerment each. Both suspects, whose last known address was in Woonsocket, have extensive prior contacts with law enforcement, including drug-related offenses.

“On October 18, 2025, both Bennett and Lopez were located, arrested, and charged with Child Endangerment. Jose Lopez was arraigned on October 20, 2025, and released on $10,000 personal recognizance. Bennett was released on October 18, 2025, on $10,000 personal recognizance, both with a pre-arraignment conference scheduled for January 5, 2026.”
