It is no secret that social media can be filled with hate and trolling. We all see it on a daily basis. However, sometimes people come together to show what good the power of the internet can provide.

Woonsocket mother, Alyssa Conkey, took to a Facebook group late last week to issue a plea for her son.

“My son Christian has severe autism, and he will be 8 years old on Monday. He is nonverbal and doesn’t have any friends for a birthday party so I was hoping if anyone or their kids could make him a birthday card. It would be so special, and I want to give him the best birthday ever. It breaks my heart every year that he doesn’t have any friends to celebrate with because he’s unable to communicate. Thank you.”

What happened next surpassed Alyssa’s expectations.

The post received hundreds of likes and comments from people looking to help offering cards and gifts for Christian.

“The amount of kindness and love we are receiving for Christian is incredible! I can’t explain in words how thankful we are for all the support, birthday cards, gifts, and kindness. He is going to have so many new friends. Thank you so so much everyone. Christian has received so much love and support and kindness around the community! He is absolutely going to have the most amazing birthday tomorrow thanks to everyone.”

If you still want to send Christian a card, you can send it to 734 Morin Heights Blvd, Woonsocket, Rhode Island, 02895.

Happy Birthday Christian and thanks to the folks who restored some faith in humanity.
