Rhode Island man previously charged twice for child molestation found guilty of sexual assault against juvenile

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Attorney General Peter Neronha announced today that a Pawtucket man has been found guilty in Providence County Superior Court of committing sexual assault against a juvenile female victim between 2014 and 2017.

On April 14, 2025, following the conclusion of a four-day trial before Superior Court Justice Joseph A. Montalbano, a jury found 60-year-old Johnnie Doe guilty of three counts of first-degree sexual assault.

The defendant was previously convicted, after a jury trial, of four counts of second-degree child molestation (P2-2019-2314A) on June 13, 2022. On August 22, 2022, Superior Court Justice Stephen P. Nugent sentenced the defendant to 25 years with 12 years to serve at the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI).

The defendant has also been charged with one count of first-degree child molestation in a separate pending case (P1-2023-3685A).

“Sexual assault causes a great deal of physical and emotional trauma for victims, and we know it is chronically underreported for this reason and many others,” said Attorney General Neronha. “The more we collectively provide avenues for victims to come forward and feel supported, the more accountability we will achieve. I commend this victim for the exceptional bravery she demonstrated in telling her story, and I hope she can find peace knowing that justice has been served. I’m very grateful to the jury, and to the Pawtucket Police Department for their partnership in this case.”

During the trial, the State proved that between 2014 and 2017, the defendant sexually assaulted a juvenile female victim who was known to him.

Special Assistant Attorneys General Jonathan Burke and Taylor Matook of the Attorney General’s Office and Detective Andrew Torres of the Pawtucket Police Department led the investigation and prosecution of the case.
