PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Attorney General Peter Neronha announced that a Richmond man has been charged in Washington County Superior Court for allegedly sexually assaulting a patient at Bayview Rehabilitation at Scalabrini in North Kingstown in December 2023.

This week, the Statewide Grand Jury returned a secret indictment charging 54-year-old Scott Leski with one count of first-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, and two counts of patient abuse. At a hearing on July 26 in Washington County Superior Court, the secret indictment was unsealed, and the defendant was arraigned. The Court ordered Leski to be held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions.

As alleged in the indictment, Leski, while working as a nurse at Bayview Rehabilitation at Scalabrini in North Kingstown, sexually assaulted a 77- year-old male patient in the early morning hours of December 16, 2023. A fellow employee discovered Leski while the assault was taking place, and the victim reported the assault to staff and his family the following morning.

Leski is scheduled for a bail review/status conference on August 13, 2024, in Washington County Superior Court.

Special Assistant Attorney General Steven DeLuca of the Office of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control and Patient Abuse Unit and Detective Ashley DePolito of the North Kingstown Police Department are leading the investigation and prosecution of the case.

Multiple reports state Leski was fired in January.
