Rhode Island man charged with abusing 2 month old daughter
On 3/28/18 at approximately 9:30pm, the Pawtucket Police were called by Hasbro Children’s Hospital for a 2 month old infant who presented with a fractured leg under suspicious circumstances. After further examination by Dr. Christine Barron of the Aubin Center, it was determined that the infant had 12 separate fractures to various bones in her body, some in different stages of healing. Dr. Barron advised that due to the extent and types of injury she made a clear determination that the injuries sustained were a result of child abuse. DCYF was notified of the incident and detectives were called.
Detective Nathan Gallison, with the assistance of Detective Trevor Lefebvre, began an investigation into the case. As a result of their investigation, the infant’s father, Alfonso Acevedo of 182 West Ave. Pawtucket, was charged with 3 counts of 1st Degree Child Abuse. Acevedo was arraigned this morning at 6th District Court.
