Rhode Island man allegedly killed by brother remembered as sweet, caring, loving
A Rhode Island man has been charged in his brother’s death.
According to family members, on Friday evening, 46-year-old Luis Cortes Teron, was killed by his brother, 49-year-old Alex Cortes Teron, after a fight.
“A punch caused him to fall and hit his head on the concrete. Police responded to the fight near the Court Street bridge in Woonsocket. They found my brother, Luis Cortes Teron, 46, unresponsive, and he was later pronounced dead at Landmark Hospital.”
Alex was charged with first degree domestic murder.
The Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence stated that reports indicate that Alexandro Cortes Teron had two previous domestic violence-related charges in 2019 for domestic violence simple assault and domestic violence disorderly conduct, which were later dismissed.
“Domestic violence is rarely an isolated event. It is often a pattern of behavior that escalates over time when left unaddressed. A history of domestic violence is also a significant risk factor for lethality, increasing the likelihood of homicide.”
Family stated through a GoFundMe fundraiser that “Luis was one of the sweetest, most caring, and loving men. Always willing to help anyone and never said no. He didn’t deserve to die like that. He was a great brother. Everyone that knew him knew how wonderful of a man he was—neighbors, families, and friends. He loved to laugh a lot for no reason and make everyone laugh.”
Alex Cortes Teron is expected in court on Monday.
