Rhode Island landlord reportedly shot and killed by tenant being evicted
A Rhode Island landlord was reportedly shot and killed Monday by a tenant being evicted.
A relative stated on social media that he saw 35-year-old Jennie Jensen die right in front of his eyes.
According to Providence Police and WJAR 10, Jensen and two others went up to a third-floor apartment on Prudence Avenue to evict 36-year-old Rufus Watson when the apartment’s door was kicked in and Watson shot Jensen with an AR-15 gun.
Watson, who is being held on $100,000 surety, stated that his actions were in self-defense as some who entered the apartment were armed.
Among the felony gun charges that Watson is facing includes Carry Pistol or Revolver Without License or Permit, Possession of Firearm Prohibited – Person Convicted of Crime of Violence, Manufacture, Sell, Purchase or Possess Machine Gun, Large Capacity Feeding Devices Prohibited, and Large Capacity Feeding Devices Prohibited.
The investigation is ongoing.
