Rhode Island, eastern and northern Massachusetts, under Blizzard Warning
Heavy snow and gusty winds are headed our way as weather conditions are expected to be very difficult as early as late tonight.
According to the National Weather Service, a Blizzard Warning has been announced for portions of eastern and northeastern Massachusetts and northern and southern Rhode Island from midnight tonight to midnight Saturday night.
Blizzard conditions expected with total snow accumulations of 17 to 22 inches and winds gusting as high as 60 mph.
Travel could be extremely difficult to impossible. Strong winds could cause tree damage.
Considerable blowing and drifting snow along with near white out conditions at times. Snowfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour is possible at times.
Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
