The victims have been identified as the Rhode Island State Police investigate a fatal crash that killed two people and left another in critical condition Saturday.

At just after 1:30 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to a two-car motor vehicle accident that occurred on the ramp from Route 113 West to Route 95 South in the City of Warwick. The investigation revealed that a silver Hyundai SUV was traveling in the second lane from the right on Route 95 South approaching the ramp to Exit 28A (Route 113 West). The Hyundai began to drift to the right across the first lane and into the on-ramp lane, striking the guardrail twice before continuing straight through the grass median.

A black Mercedes SUV was traveling on the ramp from Route 113 West to Route 95 South. The Hyundai exited the grassy median, striking the driver’s side of the Mercedes causing the Mercedes to rollover and come to rest on the ramp. After the impact, the Hyundai traveled over the guardrail and came to rest down an embankment.

The 73-year-old male operator of the Hyundai, Bernard (Willy) Olmo, and a 69-year-old female passenger, Milagros Olmo, both of Woonsocket, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at Rhode Island Hospital.

According to their daughter and a GoFundMe fundraiser, the Olmos “were always giving, had a wonderful sense of humor, and were there for anyone in need. Their good hearts touched so many lives, and their absence leaves a void that words cannot describe. We are heartbroken and trying to find our way through this unimaginable loss.”

The female occupant of the Mercedes is currently in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing, and all lanes were re-opened at 4:30 p.m.
