Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III has announced that a 42-year-old man pled guilty in Fall River Superior Court to charges of Trafficking in Cocaine over 36 grams, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Oxycodone.
Brandon Delgado of New Bedford was sentenced by the Court to serve 6 to 9 years in State Prison.
In April 2024, the New Bedford Police Drug Unit concluded an investigation into a cocaine distribution service that was operated out of 341 North Street, Apartment #1. Delgado, who resided at that location, was the target of the investigation. New Bedford police obtained two search warrants that authorized searches of the defendant’s residence and the defendant’s vehicle, a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado.
On 4/24/24, New Bedford Detectives observed Delgado exit his apartment building and enter his Chevy Silverado. He was stopped, advised of the search warrants and his Miranda rights, and returned to his apartment. The defendant’s mother was located inside the apartment. She advised officers that a trailer in the backyard belonged to Delgado, and he was in possession of the trailer keys. In the trailer, police located 337 grams of cocaine along with 2.5 tablets of oxycodone. In a John Deere riding lawn mower that was close to the trailer, police located a Titan tiger .38 special revolver. Delgado did not possess a valid FID card for the firearm. During a search of the defendant’s apartment, police located a digital scale, plastic baggies and paperwork associated with Delgado.
He was previously convicted in Boston Federal Court for Possession with intent to Distribute Cocaine and served 57 months.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Catherine Sauter.
“The defendant was caught with a large amount of cocaine and an illegal firearm that qualified him as a felon in possession of a gun because of his prior convictions. A significant sentence was warranted.,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said.
