Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced that a 28-year-old man pled guilty in Fall River District Court and was sentenced before the Honorable Raffi Yessayan.

Dante Hector of New Bedford was sentenced by the Court to serve a State Prison sentence of 4 to 6.5 years for Armed Robbery along with a concurrent State Prison sentence for Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle. He will be placed on probation for a period of 1 year upon his release from prison for one count of Assault and Battery with a knife. This was a joint recommendation to the court.

This case stems from an incident on May 7, 2024. At approximately 11:00 p.m., New Bedford police were dispatched for a male that was stabbed in the arm in the area of Ingraham Place parking lot on Rivet Street. The victim was located with a stab wound to his right arm and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment. The male victim indicated to police that in addition to being stabbed, he was robbed of his backpack which contained money, his phone and wallet. The victim and his girlfriend stated that the victim was approached by two men who beat and stabbed him. Video surveillance and cellular phone video captured much of the incident and lead to the identity of Dante Hector as one of the males who beat the victim and the male who stabbed the victim and robbed him of his property. The victim’s motorcycle was also damaged by the group of assailants.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Shawn Guilderson. The defendant previously served state prison time for a narcotics offense and a firearm and assault case.

“This defendant is a repeat offender who clearly is a danger to the community and needs to be kept off the street to protect the public. This case once again highlights the importance of surveillance video in solving serious crimes, especially when there are legal issues to overcome,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said.
