Rehoboth, Seekonk, Dighton among fire departments that extinguish blaze that destroyed home

Several area fire departments responded to a challenging blaze that destroyed a home in Bristol County.

According to the Rehoboth Fire Department, on Tuesday, at just after 6:45 a.m., Rehoboth Dispatch received a report of a structure fire at 477 Fairview Avenue. The department was immediately dispatched.

Upon arrival, Rehoboth Police confirmed the residence was fully engulfed in flames. Car 1 immediately requested mutual aid from Seekonk and Dighton directly to the scene, along with the Bristol County Tanker Task Force.

Car 1 arrived to find the home fully involved with heavy fire showing through the roof. The homeowner was able to safely evacuate prior to our arrival and was transported for evaluation with minor smoke inhalation. The homeowner was treated and later released.

The department stated that the incident presented significant challenges from the start. The fire had a substantial head start before the arrival of the fire department. Crews also faced a very narrow roadway with emergency vehicles operating on both sides, and the home was located approximately 800 feet from the road, making water supply and access especially difficult.
