They say it is better to give than receive and a Massachusetts man is taking that to heart.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Jon Valois of Lowell is the winner of a $25,000 a year for life prize in the multi-state Lucky for Life game after the first five numbers on his ticket matched those selected in the May 29 drawing.
Valois claimed his prize Monday, June 3 at Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester. He chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $390,000 (before taxes). He said he scanned the ticket on his birthday and found out that he had won. Valois plans on putting the winnings towards friends and family.
He bought his winning ticket at Northside Convenience, 44 North Rd. in Bedford.
Lucky for Life drawings are conducted seven nights a week

I could use some money. I live in a housing complex. I’ve been poor my whole life. Just once, it would be nice to want a vacation, or just have a little extra money, to buy some things I’ve never had.
Most of America would say the same thing. Unfortunately no one is ever happy with what they have. I work full time in receiving. I’m a 54 yr old woman with health issues. I don’t live in government housing. I live in a hotel and I’ve been here a year. Between covid, the economy and my husband having a stroke & heart attack we lost our home. I couldn’t pay the property taxes, bills, food and vehicle repairs.If you have Unpaid taxes they will take your home.
I didn’t take it as they were asking this man for money. Sounded more to me they were just expressing it would be nice for them to win as they’re struggling.

This guy who happened to have a ticket he brought with the numbers he had picked that happen to be the same numbers as the winning numbers that were randomly picked by a machine and now announced by the lottery. During the holidays season, I would put money in a sandwich bag and hang it on store counter, vending machine at hospitals, and so on. I always paid for a coffee for the driver in back of me at DD. That brought pleasure and a warm feeling to my heart.
I can’t live that way anymore, I was put out of my apartment from my ex-wife and now live in public housing. I live on social security and living with cancer.

I personally know this man, and he deserves it more than anybody. He is an extreme giver. He works very hard, and he has actually saved me and my daughter from living on the street even when he was struggling somebody that goes back to the homeless because we were homeless together, he actually has his friends and family members with the money he has helped people immensely I’m just hoping that he remembers himself! Extremely thankful for you, Jon and I am still in shock. I am beyond grateful for the vehicle and helping me and my daughter. I hope someday I can pay it back. You are amazing and have changed so many peoples lives. I just hope that you remember to save a little for yourself.
I personally know this man, he has been down on his luck, homeless and not knowing where he’s going to sleep next.. He picked himself up and moved forward knocking down walls to get his life together! He deserves this, he has a heart of gold!!!
