Rehoboth man arrested in Saturday shooting, vehicle hit
A man has been arrested after a Saturday evening shooting.
According to Interim Chief David Enos, Jr., at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Seekonk Police received a 911 call reporting a shots fired incident in the area of Pine St. and Woodland Ave. The caller who reported the incident gave police a possible suspect as well as the description of the fleeing vehicle involved.
When Officers arrived on scene, units were unable to locate the vehicle in the area. A short time later, the vehicle and operator were located on Taunton Ave (Rt.44), with the assistance of the Rehoboth Police Department.
The vehicle was stopped in the area of Taunton Avenue and Hope Street.
The operator of the vehicle, Matthew O’Brien, 28, of Rehoboth, was taken into custody without incident.
Enos stated that investigators have evidence to believe that the shooting was not a random act.
No one was injured in the shooting.
An unoccupied vehicle was struck with a bullet on Pine Street during the incident.
The Seekonk Police Detective Division is still actively investigating.
