Raynham man killed in Wednesday night crash
A local man was killed in a late night crash Wednesday.
According to Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police, at 10:05 p.m., Wednesday, Massachusetts State Troopers from the State Police-Milton Barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash on Chickatawbut Road in Milton, near the intersection with Forest Street adjacent to the Blue Hills Reservation, that resulted in a fatality.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2015 Kia Optima operated by Jake Bjork, 29, of Raynham, was traveling eastbound on Chickatawbut Road when, while entering a right bearing curve just after Forest Street, the driver lost control of the car. The Optima began to rotate and went off the northern edge of the road, traveled down an embankment, and struck a fence, a wooden structure, and a tree.
The operator was trapped within the car. Milton Fire Department personnel freed him using mechanical means but a Fallon EMS determined him to be deceased at the scene.
The facts and circumstances of the crash, including why the vehicle exited the roadway, remain under investigation by State Police-Milton, the State Police Troop H Detective Unit, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the State Police Collison Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Norfolk County.
The scene was cleared just before 1 a.m. today.
