Quick-thinking Massachusetts Lowe’s employees save senior from being scammed out of $10,000
Some quick-thinking Lowe’s employees in Massachusetts saved a senior citizen from being scammed out of thousands of dollars.
According to police, two employees of Lowe’s in Dedham prevented a senior citizen visiting Massachusetts from being scammed out of $10,000.
The senior received a pop-up message while checking e-mail. The message used the Microsoft logo. The senior was advised to call a number. When called, the senior was advised that her bank account had been used to purchase child pornography. The account was frozen, and a fee would need to be paid to clear the account. The person on the phone continued to manipulate the senior until the Lowe’s employees recognized the scam and convinced the senior to not purchase any gift cards.
The Lowe’s employees further helped the senior communicate with her financial account providers to safeguard her accounts.
If someone attempts to scam you, contact your local police department.
