Questions remain after former BCC student loses life while on the job
Officials are investigating after a Massachusetts woman died while on the job.
According to family, 26-year-old Emily Herrera, an Amtrak conductor, passed away while on duty near the Westerly, Rhode Island train station on Saturday afternoon.
Reports state that for reasons still unclear, Herrera went through an open door of the train and fell off as the train began to slow down to pull into the station. The doors are normally open at that time.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser page, Emily was very humble, kind, loving, and would do anything for her loved ones. The fundraiser had passed the goal of $25,000 as of this writing.
Herrera previously attended Bristol Community College.
Emily leaves behind her husband Chris and two stepsons, Chris and Noah Herrera.

I’m wondering if they are taking safety measures to ensure no one else will ever feel the ache of losing a loved one! The family is wrecked by her loss. She was a shining star on her way to a Great Full life .
