A man was sentenced in Fall River Superior Court Wednesday concerning the death of his Fall River relative.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, in the early afternoon on August 24th, 2024, New Bedford Police were dispatched to 68 South Street.  When police arrived, they discovered 23-year-old Omil Padilla-Corsino suffering from life threatening stab wounds.

Padilla-Corsino was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Records show that Padilla-Corsino lived in Fall River.

Detectives from the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with Detectives from the New Bedford Police Department identified Padilla-Corsino’s uncle as a suspect, 42-year-old Juan Padilla-Santana of Puerto Rico, and charged him with murder.

Through the investigation, police learned that the stabbing followed an argument amongst family members inside of 68 South Street.

Court records show that Padilla-Santana pled guilty Wednesday to a lesser charge of Manslaughter and was sentenced to not less than 12 1/2 years to not more than 17 1/2 years in prison with credit for 621 days already served.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser to pay for funeral services that has since been removed, Padilla-Corsino was engaged to be married, and his fiancée was due to have their child at the time of his death.
