Providence Police arrest man in Dartmouth armed robbery on Route 6
DARTMOUTH, MA- Fall River Reporter contacted Dartmouth Police concerning an armed robbery on Friday.
According to police, at just after 6:15 p.m., Dartmouth Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at King Smoke Shop located at 255 State Road (Route 6).
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Muhammad Sheikh of Woonsocket, RI, allegedly entered the business, and brandished a knife. Sheikh threatened several employees with the weapon, making verbal threats to kill them while slashing the knife toward them. Sheikh then removed the cash register, which contained approximately $700 from the counter before fleeing the scene in a gray 2025 Honda Civic, later determined to be registered to Sheikh.
A “Be On The Look Out” (BOLO) alert was immediately issued to neighboring law enforcement agencies. The Providence Police Department subsequently located the suspect vehicle in their city and Sheikh was taken into custody.
Sheikh will be charged by the Dartmouth Police Department with the following offenses:
· Armed Robbery
· Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
· Threat to Commit a Crime (Murder)
· Assault and Battery
· Malicious Destruction of property
· Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
