Protest announced as Massachusetts high school student detained by ICE

A peaceful protest has been announced as news spreads that a Massachusetts high school student has been detained by ICE.
A Milford High School student was detained by ICE agents off-campus, according to a statement from school officials, who did not specify the location of the incident.
“An 18-year-old Milford High School student was detained by ICE agents off campus this weekend. We have also had a number of parents who have been detained by ICE in recent weeks. We are all distraught by this news”, wrote Milford Superintendent Kevin McIntyre.
McIntyre continued, “the Milford Public Schools play no part in immigration enforcement and support all of our students and families, including those who are immigrants to the United States. They are members of the community, students in our classrooms, athletes that compete representing Milford, musicians, artists, friends, and neighbors. We will do everything in our power to support our students and families during these difficult times.”
A protest was announced on Saturday that will take place Sunday at noon at Milford Town Hall.
The statement from organizers reads:
Imagine skipping your HS Graduation for fear of ICE.
This is reality right now, and students at Milford High School are asking for support from the wider community.
Please join us for a peaceful, community-led demonstration in front of Milford Town Hall as we come together to show support for our students and families who are facing unjust treatment and fear.
Recently, there have been troubling incidents involving questioning and pressure placed on local youth—many of whom have done everything right and are working hard to build their futures. Some have been given conflicting or inaccurate information that could deeply impact their lives and education.
This gathering is a chance to say:
We stand for truth, fairness, and dignity.
We believe all students deserve safety, support, and respect.
We believe in protecting the future of our community.
Bring signs with messages of support.
All are welcome—families, students, educators, neighbors, and friends.
