Program/Entertainment schedule, parking permit info released for Fall River’s Great Feast of the Holy Ghost

Looking for some great food and entertainment along with reverence toward the Holy Ghost? That is exactly what is headed to Fall River.

The Great Feast of the Holy Ghost is taking place at Kennedy Park in Fall River from Wednesday August 20th to Monday, August 25th.

The schedule of the feast is as follows:

Wednesday, August 20th
5:00 pm- Praying of the rosary with traditional soup in praise of the Holy Ghost
Rosary prayed by Father Nuno Sousa of the Azores.
Entertainment: Folia Group from St Elizabeth’s Church, Bristol
Intentions: Liberal and Rita Silva and their family / Joao and Alda Moniz and their family

Thursday, August 21st
7:00 pm- Illumination ceremony at Kennedy Park
Entertainment by the following artists:
7:00 – 7:20 PM – Man Elvis 7:20 -7:40 PM

Friday, August 22nd
7:00 pm- Entrance of the symbols of the Holy Ghost, a blessing, and distribution of the
“pensões”
Accompaniment by Santo Antonio Band, Fall River
7:30pm – Opening of the Azorean artisanry and regional products of the Azores
exhibitions, organized by artisans from the Azores and local.
Accompaniment by Golia Group of Singers- Bolarinho & Tavares
Dignitaries present: Honorable guest, Eng. Luis Garcia, President of the
Legislative Assembly of the Azores; Guests representing the community, Kevin and
Fernando Santos; Canon Helder Fonseca Mendes, Father Nuno Sousa and Father
Maurice Gauvin; Dr. Jose Andrade, Regional Director of the Azorean Communities; Dr.
Tiago Sousa, Portuguese Consul in New Bedford, along with other religious, civil,
political and honorable dignitaries.
Entertainment by the following artists:

Saturday, August 23rd
9:30am- Cultural “Bodo de Leite” Parade
Leave from the Portas da Cidade, down Columbia and South Main Street, towards
Kennedy Park, where milk and traditional sweet bread will be distributed to all present in
honor of the Holy Ghost.
3:00-5:00pm- TV Program DE CA PRA LA- by Ricardo Farias and Floriano Cabral
6:15-815pm – Concert by the Santo Antonio Band of Fall River and Santa Cecilia Band
of Fall River.
Entertainment by the following artists:
8:45 – 9:45 PM- Os Capitalistas
9:45 – 10:45 pm – Luis Neves “The Vibe”
11:00 pm –Close

Sunday, August 24th
12:00pm – Crowning Mass at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, celebrated by D. Edgar Cunha,
Bishop of Fall River; Bruce Lewandowski, Bishop of Providence; Canon Helder Fonseca
Mendes; Father Nuno Sousa; and Father Maurice Gauvin
2:00pm- Coronation procession beginning in front of Saint Mary’s Cathedral, with the
Holy Ghost brotherhoods and Philharmonic bands of New England.
The procession will follow from Saint Mary’s Cathedral to Second St, Borden St, South
Main St and end at Kennedy Park.
5:30pm- 7:30pm- Concert by the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Mosteirense Band of
Fall River and the Our Lady of the Rosary Band of Providence
Entertainment by the following artists:
7:30pm- 8:00pm- Concetta
8:15pm- Raffle and words from the President
8:30pm- 9:45pm- Starlight
10:00pm – Close

Monday, August 25th
5:30pm- Closing Ceremony for the Great Feast of the Holy Ghost of New England at
the Cultural Center in Fall River.

Parking information:

Chief Kelly Furtado has authorized the issuance of Special Parking Permits for eligible residents impacted by the 2025 Great Feast of the Holy Ghost.

Permits will be valid from Thursday, August 21, 2025, through Sunday, August 24, 2025, for residents living at the following addresses:

• Bradford Avenue (#380–#651)

• Middle Street (#517–#685)

• Eagle Street (#289 and #303)

• Fountain Street (#311 and #358)

• Mulberry Street (#358–#384)

• Division Street (#369, #381, #451, and #509)

FRPD Mobile Command Post – Upper Kennedy Park (next to the Federal Little League Field)

Residents MUST present their current motor vehicle registration.

Permits will only be issued to vehicles registered to one of the above addresses.
