Probationary officer arrested in Pawtucket and Providence Police drug investigation

A local man and woman were arrested on Friday on multiple drug charges.

According to Pawtucket Police, early this morning, after a several month-long joint investigation by the Pawtucket Police Special Squad Narcotics Detectives with the assistance of the Providence Police, led to the arrests and charges for the following individuals for several narcotics offenses:

Jaylan Lopez, 24, of Pawtucket:
Manufacture/ deliver/possession w/ intent to manufacture/del/sch I/II cont. subst. (2 counts)
Conspiracy-drug-felony less than five years
Distribution or manufacturing in or near schools
Maintain a common nuisance
Conspiracy-felony-less than five years

Destiny Viera, 25, of Providence:
Manufacture/ deliver/possession w/ intent to manufacture/del/sch I/II cont. subst. (2 counts)
Conspiracy-drug-felony less than five years (2 counts)
Distribution or manufacturing in or near schools
Keeping or maintaining a common nuisance-1st offense

Both suspects will be arraigned by a bail commissioner on Saturday.

According to WJAR 10, Viera had been a probationary officer with the Providence Police Department since last September.
