A man was arrested after a southeastern Massachusetts crash injured three people including an infant and a pregnant woman on Thursday.
According to Bourne Police, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Bourne Police responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash on Shore Road, in the area of the Oakland Grove Cemetery.
Arriving officers advised that the road was completely shut down. It was determined that a black Subaru Outback operated by a 62-year-old male was heading northbound on Shore Road. The Subaru veered left into the oncoming lane and struck a black Hyundai Sonata travelling southbound on Shore Road head on. The 3 occupants of the Hyundai, including a 35-year-old pregnant female, a 26-year-old male, and an 11-month-old infant, were transported to area hospitals with non-life -threatening injuries.
The operator of the Subaru was also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and will be charged with OUI alcohol and drugs, failure to stay in marked lanes, and
negligent operation of a motor vehicle. The roadway was closed for approximately one hour before being reopened.
Police did not release any names involved in the crash, however, a woman on social media that represented as the 35-year-old pregnant woman issued a statement.
“He almost killed me and my family and for a while there on my way to the hospital I thought my unborn baby was gone (thank God he’s OK at the moment). I hope he gets the time he deserves… but thank you to all first responders and the people who helped me before they arrived. You all made the difference. It will be a long recovery for me but I’m just so grateful my daughter and my unborn son are ok and of course my fiancé.”
